We need you! As you can imagine, there are many opportunities to do some volunteer work. There are several positions on the Aiken Audubon Board that are open at this time:
Secretary: Responsibilities include attending monthly board meetings and taking minutes. We always appreciate sensible and knowledgable input.
Treasurer: Requires a knowledge of non-profit accounting, 990 forms, and basic investment understanding. Integrity must be spotless! Plan to attend monthly board meetings.
Publicity chair: This involves getting information to the public regarding our meetings/programs. Besides contacting the media (TV, radio, newspapers), flyers may be created and placed in nature and birding stores around town. If you have some creative ideas on promoting this chapter, that would be a bonus.
Education chair is also vacant at this time.
Do you have a favorite place to bird and a little expertise on the wildlife inhabiting the area? Why not lead a bird walk?
Aiken Audubon also owns a bird sanctuary that requires some maintenance and clean up. This would be a great place to do a community service project with boy and girl scouts.
