All Audubon field trips are free unless otherwise stated, and open to the public. Come join us!

The following trips are scheduled at this time. Please contact the trip leader or listed trip contact for additional information and to let them know you are coming. It's helpful to the leader to know how many participants to expect. Plus, you sure don't want them to leave without you!.

TRIP LEADERS WANTED !
While we are waiting for someone to volunteer as the new Field Trip Coordinator for Aiken, how would YOU like to lead a trip? You don't need to know all the birds, but a general familiarity of the destination is helpful. Contact us with your ideas!

KETTLE CREEK LAKES
Join us on this short and flat walk around the Kettle Creek "Lakes." Located directly adjacent to the Air Force Academy property, three ponds attract wintering waterfowl and sparrows, plus an assortment of other seasonal birds.

To get there, head for the south gate of the academy, but turn right at the informatoinal center before you cross over onto air force property. The road will dead-end in a parking lot. Contact trip leader Risë Foster-Bruder at 719.282.7877 for more information, and to let her know you are planning to come.

CHRISTMAS BIRD COUNT
Save the date, and join other intrepid Aiken birders for this year's Christmas count. We'll be out counting birds no matter what the weather throws at us. Ben and Sally Sorenson (719.635.1716, no answering machine—keep trying) are once again heading up our involvement, so sign up right away.

In addition, Pueblo's Arkansas Valley Audubon Society  has invited us to share in their trips. Check their website for the latest information.

PHOTOGRAPHING ROSY FINCHES
Mark the date and stay tuned for more information. We'll be looking at feeders in Cripple Creek, Victor, and Goldfield. This is a photography trip, so expect to spend a lot of time taking pictures, and not so much time looking for birds.

EAGLE DAYS and RAPTORS
This is our annual trek to Pueblo Reservoir for their Eagle Days celebration. Getting there is half the fun—we take the back roads, looking for raptors along the way. Lake Pueblo State Park's Eagle Days website still has last year's information, but they should be updating it soon.
